Artist Statement
I have always felt a connection between nature, the elements, and human emotion. Each express a feeling that can be volatile, serene, tumultuous, ever changing, and constantly moving. My work explores those connections with both real and imagined subjects using symbolism. Often there may be a subtle underlying meaning that the viewer may notice with a second glance or by interpreting the narrative in the work for themselves. The relationships created within each composition become new landscapes of my view of the world. My current work explores time and place. Whether it’s a small moment that happens in a flash, or a momentous occasion, the memories of that time and place stick with us to recall at a later time. Often that memory becomes stretched or abstracted in some way. That is the interpretation of time and place I am creating.
